Shakira voted sexiest Latina on the planet.

August 19, 2003 -- Sultry Latin pop artist, Shakira, has been voted the sexiest Latina on the planet - beating off stiff competition from fellow Colombian Sofia Vergara.

The blonde-hair diva claimed top spot in American magazine Stuff's Loveliest Latin Lady poll, and shocked pundits by beating model Sofia - who's been dubbed 'Viagra on legs' by lusty fans.

Mexican movie star Salma Hayek came second in the poll, followed by Cuban model-turned-actress Daisy Fuentes and superstar Jennifer Lopez.

Despite her status as one of the hottest women on the planet, sultry Sofia only ranked at number eight.

A magazine insider admits, "There were some surprising results. No-one expected Shakira to finish first - and we thought Sofia would be a lot higher."
