Salma Hayek Launches a new line of cosmetics for CVS

New exclusive line for CVS Pharmacy Stores names Nuance

July 13, 2011 -- Teaming up with CVS Pharmacy stores, Salma hayek is launching her brand new cosmetics line called Nuance.

The “From Dusk Til Dawn” actress is quite passionate about the new project and told press it’s been years in the making.

Salma explained, “I took three years off my acting career to work on this. This is not something that required 14 hours. Nooo, baby. This has been a full-time job.”

On her decision to work with discount chain CVS, Hayek stated, “It is possible to create extraordinary product for a low price. Everyone should have the right product at the right price. A lot of products don’t even cost a lot to make. I wanted to make simply the best product and give everyone access to the good stuff.”

“When you deal with prestige suppliers there are only a couple that make the products for everyone. You are offered the cream that they didn’t already offer to Estée Lauder and [L’Oréal]. [For Nuance] I am dealing with many, many labs and suppliers who are hungry for the business and who didn’t mind some crazy Mexican coming to them over and over and over again asking them to change something.”

In this sense, Hayek’s line would completely stand out by contrast because, inspired by her late cosmetologist grandmother, the star wants to make her line affordable, thus to enjoy a much wider appeal.

“I’m trying to develop a line with a drugstore so that it is affordable for everyone. We’ve researched for two to three years. My grandmother was a cosmetologist and she used to make her own creams, but my whole approach is how can we get the essence of the really expensive ones, but for everyone to be able to afford. I shouldn’t be talking about this!” Salma gushed to the media a short while back.

And, while she probably shouldn’t have been talking about it, it now seems that things are coming together just nicely. The line, Salma tells, has been inspired by her grandmother, who made her own creams and lotions, and admittedly passed away wrinkle-free. “When she died at 96, of course her skin had sagged, but she didn’t have any wrinkles. She made her own creams using secret ingredients you can only find in Latin America.” Hayek revealed, hinting that she too would be using the “secret ingredient” in her own products.

So far, no release date has yet been made public for Salma Hayek’s skincare line but, several reports in the media indicate, it shouldn’t be long until we have one of those products with the secret Latin American ingredient in a store near us. Keep an eye on this space for more details on this one.
