Mario Lopez makes his Broadway debut on A Chorus Line

April 17, 2008 -- Hispanic actor and dancer, Mario Lopez made his Broadway debut on April 15th,  when he starred on the hit musical "A Chorus Line."

Lopez is best known for his work on the 1990s teen sit-com "Saved by the Bell," as well as for his fancy footwork on ABC's hit show, "Dancing With the Stars."

He is to give his first performance as the director-choreographer Zach in "A Chorus Line" Tuesday, the New York Daily News said.

"I'm ready to go," Lopez, 34, told the newspaper. "I'm all good."

The entertainer said he thinks the part is a good one for him since "Zach is very focused, so am I."

"I love that the show is so iconic and such a strong ensemble piece," Lopez said. "And that it's got so many great messages. You don't have to be in show business to relate to the idea of striving for a dream."

Although Zach dances at the beginning and end of the show, he doesn't sing a solo..

"I can carry a tune, but that's it," Lopez admitted. "I'm not a dancer, I'm an actor who moves OK. But I'm a pretty quick learner. I work really hard."

The show' s cast features Nick Adams (Larry), Tommy Berklund (Greg), Natalie Cortez (Diana), Charlotte d'Amboise (Cassie), Dena Digiacinto (Bebe), Jessica Lee Goldyn (Val), Deidre Goodwin (Sheila), Bryan Knowlton (Paul), James T. Lane (Richie), Melissa Lone (Maggie), J. Elaine Marcos (Connie), Paul McGill (Mark), Heather Parcells (Judy), Jason Patrick Sands (Don), Jeffrey Schecter (Mike), Will Taylor (Bobby), Katherine Tokarz (Kristine), and Kevin Worley (Al), as well as Todd Anderson, Michelle Aravena, Mike Cannon, E. Clayton Cornelious, Joey Dudding, Jenifer Foote, Lyndy Franklin, Nadine Isenegger, Jessica Lea Patty, Grant Turner, and Deone Zanotto

A Chorus Line with Mario Lopez will play until Sunday, September 7 but will be on hiatus from Sunday, May 11 through Tuesday, June 3rd.

Mario is also the author of a new book, "Mario Lopez's Knockout Fitness," due out in May.
