Jennifer Lopez might land lead role in "Dallas"

Written by Nelson Ortiz,

March 17, 2006 -- One of the biggest television hits of the 1980s, "Dallas" is being remade by Fox as a big screen movie with a lot of famous names.

It has been reported that John Travolta and Latina superstar Jennifer Lopez might have lead roles in the movie version of the TV series Dallas according to Variety magazine. If all goes as planed, Travolta will play J.R. Ewing and Jennifer will play Sue Ellen Ewing, J.R's alcoholic wife.

Lopez has been keeping herself busy in the movie industry recently filming both El Cantante with her husband Marc Anthony and the Gregory Nava-helmed Bordertown. Travolta recently came off Lonely Hearts with James Gandolfini and Salma Hayek.

"Dallas" which will be directed by Robert Luketic, is no stranger to Lopez. He loved working with her on "Monster-In-Law" which he directed and has been interested in finding something else for her them to work on together.

Other names being mentioned for the flick include Luke Wilson as Bobby Ewing and Shirley MacLaine as Miss Ellie.
