JLo makes rare appearance at the NYC Puerto Rican
Day Parade
June
12, 2006 -- Puerto Rican actress and
singer, Jennifer Lopez made a rare appearance at the National Puerto Rican Day
Parade in New York City when she marched along side her husband, singer Marc
Anthony and Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The
Bronx-born beauty and her husband, Anthony, who was the parade's grand marshal
marched from 44th to 72nd
Street. Then, they boarded on a yellow Corvette convertible, which drove them to
82nd Street.
Lopez, who hasn't made an appearance at the
parade in years, looked like she was enjoying herself waving and smiling at the
millions of people who attended.
"The Puerto Rican Day parade has been a
longstanding tradition in my life. It was always an event that I looked forward
to every single year," said Anthony.
Mayor Bloomberg joked about being overshadowed by
the famous couple. "In the pictures tomorrow, I will be lucky if I am noticed at
all," he said, drawing a giggle from a cheerful Lopez.
The famous couple did cause a frenzy of paparazzi to approach them and police
officers and Guardian Angels had to fight them away from Lopez and Anthony.
The Puerto Rican parade is an annual event in New York City since 1958 and has
grown to be one of the city's largest and most famous parades. |
