Electronics giant, Panasonic signs Shakira to
promote their products to Latin America
The diva of Latin music to represent Panasonic audio
visual products

30, 2006 -- Panasonic, the brand for which Matsushita Electric
Industrial Co., Ltd. is known, announced an advertising and promotional
agreement with Grammy Award winning singer and songwriter Shakira.
According to the one-year agreement, she will serve as the spokesperson for
Panasonic audio visual products including LUMIX digital still cameras and
VIERA flat panel display TVs for the Latin American market. Panasonic will
start featuring the passionate and powerful Latin pop icon in print and TV
advertising and point-of-sales posters from this April.
Panasonic and Shakira have a shared commitment to inspiring and touching the
heart of people. While Shakira achieves through her music, Panasonic through its
products and services, striving to provide the best in quality, technology,
design and user interface.
Shakira's talent blossomed with her first English-language album "Laundry
Service" released in 2001. The album recorded sales of 13 million copies
worldwide and established musical presence of the Colombia-born diva of Latin
pops in the world. In 2005, Shakira received three Billboard Music Awards
including the Latin Pop Album of the Year and in 2006 the Best Latin
Rock/Alternative Album Award for the 48th Annual Grammy Awards.
Shakira will first appear in advertisements for new models of LUMIX digital
still cameras, which revolutionized digital still photography with Panasonic's
own MEGA O.I.S (optical image stabilizer) to correct handshakes. As Shakira
delights and captivates people with her music, Panasonic hopes to capture minds
of Latin American consumers by enhancing joy of photography with the new LUMIX
products. Shooting of the first commercial film is scheduled for later this
month.
