Eva Longoria is the "New Face" of Los
Angeles
November
18, 2005 -- Mexican-American beauty, Eva Longoria has recently signed on to promote tourism to Los Angeles as part of the city's "see my LA" promotion campaign. Considered one of the hottest Latino commodities in Hollywood, Longoria, who plays Gabrielle Solis on the hit ABC primetime show, promotes LA's famed Sunset Blvd. and her comedy show "Hot Tamales Live." Her quote: "It doesn't get better than driving down Sunset Boulevard and catching a comedy show like 'Hot Tamales Live'" refers to the all-female comedy variety show she co-produces at the Comedy Store, located on the Sunset Strip.
"Los Angeles is a great place to live, work and play," said Eva Longoria, star
of the hit TV show "Desperate Housewives". "I am excited to be part of an effort to promote LA to visitors from around the world."
Named one of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful" and the "#1 Hottest Woman in the World" on Maxim's 2005 annual "Hot 100 List," Eva Longoria is well suited to join a growing legion of actors, musicians, star athletes, cultural icons and chefs who want to give back to Los Angeles by lending their image to promote tourism.
"We are grateful to have Eva on our 'see my LA' campaign," said Mark Liberman, president and chief executive officer for LA INC. The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau. "She is one of the most popular stars on television today, and her image will remind the world why LA is such a happening place."
In addition to Longoria's acting skills, she is also well regarded as a comedian and co-produces the "Hot Tamales Live" show, a critically acclaimed comedy/variety show in Los Angeles. "Hot Tamales Live" performs regularly at The Comedy Store, located at 8433 Sunset Blvd., and consistently sells out its performances whenever they perform across the country.
Longoria has played roles on "The Bold and the Beautiful," "General Hospital," and "Beverly Hills, 90210" before winning the role of Isabella on the popular series, "The Young and the Restless." She is a resident of Los Angeles.
LA INC.'s "see my LA" campaign uses the faces of 50 celebrities, including the likes of Diane
Keaton, Raven Symone, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lionel Richie, Oscar De La
Hoya, Mattel's Barbie(R), Melissa Etheridge, Nancy O'Dell and George Takei to promote Los Angeles as a premier destination for leisure travel, conventions and meetings. The "see my LA" campaign is used worldwide in print and Web advertising, in marketing materials promoting LA and on posters at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the Cruise Terminal at the Port of Los Angeles and select Metro Red Line subway stations welcoming visitors to the City. Celebrities participate on a pro bono basis.
LA INC. is a private, non-profit business association dedicated to promoting LA as the premier site for leisure travel, conventions and meetings. Though not part of city government, LA INC. is recognized as the official tourism marketing organization for the City of Los Angeles.
