Los Estefans open new Cuban restaurant in Mexico
City
December 15, 2005 -- Gloria and Emilio Estefan, whose music has reached millions of audiences world-wide, are now set to take another one of their
brands global with the opening of BONGUITOS CUBAN CAFE in
Mexico City, at the Mexico City Juarez International Airport & at the Puerto
Vallarta International Airport, Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
This expansion into its first market outside of the United States resulted from
the strategic partnership with Aerocomidas, a division of AREAS, which is one of
the world's largest operators of restaurants in transit locations.
"The concept of BONGUITOS CUBAN CAFE differs from our
restaurants in Miami and Orlando as it will allows travelers to experience the
best of Cuban food and to get a small taste of our culture ' on the go, ' " said
Emilio. "We wanted our first location outside the United States to be in
Mexico." This is an opportunity for us to showcase the flavor of our Cuban
culture to a country that has embraced Gloria and I since the beginning of our
careers."
Through the partnership with Aerocomidas, the Estefans plan to expand the brand
of their internationally known restaurants in airports and cities around the
world. The hospitality brand is set to be featured in expansion plans at Miami
International Airport sometime next year.
"We are proud to be opening TWO BONGUITOS CUBAN CAFE this year
in Mexico", said Javier Gavilan, AREAS General Director. "Our business model has
us looking towards New York and Los Angeles with a five-year expansion plan to

The Estefan's flagship restaurant Bongos Cuban Café first opened at Walt Disney
World in Orlando in 1997 and at the American Airlines Arena in Downtown Miami in
2000. The Estefans also own and operate Larios on the Beach and the Cardozo
Hotel and Cafe on Miami Beach, which complete the company’s existing hospitality
portfolio.
The official opening of BONGUITOS CUBAN CAFE will take
place tomorrow Thursday December 8 at 1pm in the Mexico City International
Airport (Local N-7 in front of Gate 8) were Gloria and Emilio Estefan will be on
hand to celebrate along with Mexican hosts Ninel Conde, singer/actress and Omar
Chaparro host for the renowned Mexican TV Show "No Manches". The Puerto Vallarta
location is set to open later this month.
