J-Lo inks multi-year pact with Fox-TV

Written by Hispanicsurf.com staff

March 12, 2004 -- Latina superstar, Jennifer Lopez, who began her career as a Flygirl dancer on Fox's "In Living Color," has signed a production deal with the network's studio, Fox Television Studios and Regency TV.

The deal will give Fox TV the first shot at any television projects developed by Lopez or her Nuyorican partner Simon Fields and producer Julio Caro.

"Not only is Jennifer Lopez a global icon, but she is also a highly driven trendsetter with great instincts," said Fox TV President David Grant.

Lopez, partner Simon Fields and producer Julio Caro have long been developing a talk show for Universal Domestic TV hosted by Lopez's sister, Lynda Lopez. Nuyorican is also developing a tele-novela and the variety show Le Grand Tralala. In addition, Nuyorican is involved in a long-term agreement with Spanish-language broadcaster Telemundo.

The company also has a first-look feature deal with Columbia and a first-look Spanish-language television deal with Telemundo.

"I started in television and love the medium," says the former "In Living Color" flygirl, Lopez. "We intend to be a major creative force in television. The partnership between us, Fox TV and Regency TV gives Nuyorican the perfect home to develop quality television across all genres, whether it is scripted series or original specials."
